GM20112
@juhina_ @2011feb17 @thatgroverdude The first female president of Libya will pass laws that give females and males equal employment rights
and then just sit back and wait for their judgements!
juhina_
@2011feb17 since we follow islam, i doubt thats going to happen.
GM20112
@juhina_ @2011feb17 and how convenient that is.....for men
juhina_
@GM20112 @2011feb17 i agree its convenient for them, but god said this for a reason, so women can't be judges, but can get any other position
GM20112
@juhina_ @2011feb17 Do you also believe that women must be less intelligent than men because they have smaller brains?
juhina_
@GM20112 umm... How does that even make sense?
GM20112
@juhina_ mmmm was a firmly held belief by 'scientists' for centuries though. Can you apply 'sense' to some other things - 1/2
juhina_
@GM20112 scientists? U think I'm going to believe everything scientists say? In Islam women have these rights, so don't care about the rest
GM20112
@juhina_ @2011feb17 and do you also agree with the Saudi position that women shouldn't drive because it isn't 'written'??????????
juhina_
@GM20112 that's not written in Islam. Did god say women can't drive? Please understand my point. Women should have these rights
GM20112
@juhina_ like what possible reason could there be for not allowing a trained experienced legal expert become a judge because of gender?
juhina_
@GM20112 because women are more emotional god has his reasons, u r basically going against gods laws by questioning this.
GM20112
@juhina_ God has 'his' reasons? So God is a male?
juhina_
@GM20112 that's just disrespectful to Islam and god. I'm not answering to your tweets again.
GM20112
@juhina_ Yes I am questioning and proud that I do so - 'women are more emotional' a ridiculous generalisation
----
2011feb17
@juhina_ @gm20112 which is a more powerful/responsibility job, a judge or a president?
juhina_ (Juhina)
@2011feb17 exactly. We can be presidents. Why are we hung up about not being able to be judges? You can have any other position!
-----
juhina_
@GM20112 i said about women not being judges & basically you took it as me saying women cant get any high positions =\. please reread wt i wrote
@GM20112
@juhina_ I have read what you said and understand it clearly 'women can't be judges because god says so and we should not question it' yes?
juhina_
@GM20112 exactly. Funny how a muslim would question god's laws.
GM20112 (Gem M)
@juhina_ @ghitiya @2011feb17 A woman's evidence can't be trusted neither can her judgement - and women accept this? Let's leave it there.
-------
2011feb17 (Tweeting Tripoli)
Will we have women judges one day? *runs behind the sofa and waits*
@benghazifeb (ali libyan)
@2011feb17 gaddafi appointed some female judges
ArmchairArab
@benghazifeb @2011feb17 By that logic no men should be allowed in military, as Gaddafi appointed MEN that killed their own people.
------
N_Benghazi
Can't enjoy what Libya has to offer you as a tourist without alcohol? Stay home.
ChristoffVosloo
@N_Benghazi Not about alcohol. It is about the right to live your life as u choose. If u take away peoples freedoms, u end up with Gaddafi
N_Benghazi
@ChristoffVosloo the only ones who want alcohol in Libya are westerners hoping to have a drink on the coast. Not what libyans stand for.
ChristoffVosloo
@N_Benghazi Thats exactly the point, #laws should not define moral behavior. Religion, cultural values etc. should.
------
AliTweel
Sale and consumption of alcohol are against the law throughout Libya. Stern penalties are imposed for the possession or use of alcohol.
clareyh (Clare Harper)
@AliTweel are these gadaffi's laws or have they been around longer?
AliTweel
@clareyh Muslim laws.
clareyh
@AliTweel I have been to many muslims countries where alcohol in hotels to encourage the tourists; their money creates jobs and revenue
AliTweel

AliTweel
@ears2dgrwnd @hababbi r u muslim?
ears2dgrwnd
@AliTweel If u were happy with what we had, is that why u were NOT fighting!!!
@AliTweel
@ears2dgrwnd please answer yes or no: is alcohol allowed to be sold/drunk in Islam?
Overman_Alawami (PhD Overman Alawami)
@AliTweel @ears2dgrwnd I am sorry to interrupt, yes alcohol can be sold in Islamic countries since there will be non-Muslims.
AliTweel
If you can not stay sober during your visit to Libya (assuming 1 month max) then you have a serious problem.
Proudlibyandoc (Hussam Muntasser)
@AliTweel that is the expats
@ears2dgrwnd
@Proudlibyandoc @AliTweel No many Libyans travel to drink. Many drink in Libya. I dont' but i support freedom of choice!
ArmchairArab

ArmchairArab

free1953 (Alan)

Homosexuality is considered a criminal offence in Libya, for which the minimum prison sentence is three years.
AliTweel
The authorities are known to charge and convict homosexuals under this law. Sexual relations outside marriage are also punishable by law.
AliTweel
@xueshang many i knew had sex before mirrage, they regret after mirrage they had it.

zubijpj (zubair ahmad)
@SecularLibya @WalkingstickMtn .Read Quran I assure many of your doubts will be cleared.
SecularLibya (MargBar Khamenei)
@zubijpj I am an ex-Muslim. I have read that book of hate.
SecularLibya
@zubijpj Anyone with a healthy mind that reads Koran will think it's rubbish. That is why educated people dont like Islam.
------
AliTweel
I have learned so much today, some people thinks it's a dictaorship to build a muslim country. You have to re-think many things in your life
ears2dgrwnd
@AliTweel learning that your opinion will b challenged is the first WLECOME rule on Twitter.
AliTweel
@ears2dgrwnd "facepalm"... Please understand that you are not challenging me, you are challenging the entire Islam religion.
ears2dgrwnd
@AliTweel Enuff.u really need to relax. No1 is challenging Islam. We challenge your closed minded,forced opinions ONLY. not you as a person!
